Scarlett Johansson & Chris Evans Reuniting For Jason Bateman's New Movie

Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans are set to reunite in a new movie called Project Artemis directed by Jason Bateman. The history between Johansson and Evans runs deep, as the two first starred together in the 2004 film The Perfect Score and reunited for The Nanny Diaries in 2007. Now, both actors are best known for their respective roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Natasha Romanoff a.k.a Black Widow and Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America. The characters shared the screen for a total of six movies – two Captain America films and all four Avengers flicks.

As both Evans and Johansson's tenures in the MCU have seemingly come to a close, the actors have been pursuing various roles outside the franchise in recent years. Evans' sweater-wearing Ransom Drysdale from Knives Out has been his most famous role since exiting the MCU. His upcoming roles include the voice of the titular astronaut in Lightyear and an unhinged villain in the Russo brothers' spy-thriller The Gray Man. Johansson, on the other hand, made her final MCU appearance as the star of last year's Black Widow and she has been lining up numerous prospects since then.

Now, Johansson and Evans have signed on to a new project that will reunite them yet again. Per Deadline, the two actors are set to star in a buzzy new movie titled Project Artemis. Fresh off its Best Picture win for CODA, Apple TV+ won the rights to the project for over $100 million after a fierce bidding war.

Project Artemis will be directed by Jason Bateman and written by Rose Gilroy (daughter of writer-director Dan Gilroy and actress René Russo). The Arrested Development and Ozark star has directed episodes of both shows along with two films, Bad Words and The Family Fang, though Project Artemis will be Bateman's best chance yet to showcase his chops behind the camera. Gilroy also looks to make a name for herself as a screenwriter since this will be her first film. Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, though as suggested by the title, Project Artemis will reportedly be set against the Space Race.

Project Artemis actually isn't the only upcoming project that could reunite the two stars. In 2020, Evans was in talks to star in a Little Shop of Horrors remake and there have also been reports of Johansson being the studio's top choice to play the female lead. There hasn't been any more news on that front and with the two stars now set to reunite on Project Artemis, it has likely fallen to the wayside. This will mark Evans' second collaboration with Apple TV+ after Ghosted, which was originally set to star Johansson before she was replaced by Ana de Armas. Hopefully, both Johansson and Evans stay aboard Project Artemis and finally have their highly-anticipated reunion post-MCU.
