Pokémon BDSP: How To Find (& Catch) Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza

Players can find and capture Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. It's important to mention that players will only have access to these Pokémon after beating the main story and becoming the Champion. Once this is done, players will be tasked with completing the remainder of their Sinnoh Dex. Players just need to see all 151 Pokémon in the region for it to count. This is how players can get the National Dex and unlock new caves with Ramanas Park. Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza are amongst some of the final prizes to get in Ramanas Park.

For starters, players will need to unlock the Discovery Slate in Ramanas Park where there is an NPC that will sell Slates for Mysterious Shards. These are items that can only be found exclusively by digging around in the Underground. Players unlock access to the Grand Underground after speaking with the Explorer Man in Eterna City.

The Discovery Slate will be the only item players can purchase at first and will bring the player to the Discovery Room where they can find and capture Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. These three are needed to find Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. Each Pokémon game in Pokémon BDSP has its own set of exclusive legendary Pokémon.

Additional slates will become available in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as the player captures more legendary Pokémon in Ramanas Park. This is how players can get to the slates needed to the Hoenn trio.

  • Discovery Slate: This is the first slate available and will give players Regirock, Registeel, and Regice.
  • Kanto Slate: This slate is exclusive to Pokémon Shining Pearl and will give players Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
  • Johto Slate: This slate is exclusive to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and will give players Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.
  • Soul Slate: This slate becomes available after the player captures Regirock, Registeel, and Regice and will give the player Latios or Latias.
  • Rainbow Slate: This slate is exclusive to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and will give players Ho-Oh after they have caught Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Latios, and Latias.
  • Squall Slate: This slate is exclusive to Pokémon Shining Pearl and will give the players Lugia after they have caught Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Latios, and Latias.

Now, players can begin to work towards the slates for Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza.

  • Oceanic Slate: This slate becomes available after the player captures Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Latios, and Latias in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in Pokémon Shining Pearl. It will give players access to Kyogre.
  • Tectonic Slate: This slate becomes available after the player captures Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Latios, and Latias in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in Pokémon Shining Pearl. It will give players access to Groudon.
  • Stratospheric Slate: This slate becomes available after the player captures Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Latios, and Latias in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in Pokémon Shining Pearl. It will give players access to Rayquaza.

Players will still need to go into the Underground to find the Mysterious Shards to purchase these slates. Playing with friends can make this process faster since the Underground allows players to mine together. After this, the only legendary Pokémon that remains is Mewtwo.
